  1. I just downloaded a trial version of Mpeg Video Wizard DVD. I am really impressed with the new features that have been implimented.

    1. A cut feature so that you can easily trim out the commercials. What you have left can be exported directly to the timeline.
    2. You now have the option of exporting your file as a Mp4 file. It has different templates for exporting to MP4 Movie Format, Sony PSP format, and IP0D format.

I consider these features to be a major advancement in Womble technology.

To be truthful I am not enamored by the DVD Creation feature, but part of that is I don't fully understand that part of the program yet. I am so used to how easy Tmpgenc DVD Author 1.6 is that every other DVD Authoring Program seems overly complex.

It is well worth downloading a trial version to check out these new features in Womble Mpeg Wizard DVD.

    Hi,
I've had MPEG Video Wizard without the DVD for years and am still receiving the free upgrades!!! Like the OP I prefer TDA 1.6 so I never saw the need to upgrade to the DVD version. The Mp4 Export is pure genius, and take this great Prog up a notch against the likes of Vegas and Adobe. The only caveat is although they have wisely chosen XviD for MPEG-4, the current encoder settings are still to basic for many MPEG-4 users and I hope H.264 (or x264)encoding is going to be included in the next upgrade. Way to go Womble!!!!

  4. Gmaq: I bought the Womble Mpeg Video Wizard and was entitled to upgrades for only one year after I bought it. I just fooled around with the DVD portion of Mpeg Video Wizard DVD and I saw atleast one drawback that I didn't like.

It seem when you input text in for the title line, you are only allowed to input it in one line, you can press enter and continue writing a second line. This isn't acceptable as sometimes you have movies with long titles, and I for one like the text to be large and noticable I would want to reduce to fit everything on one line. Besides sometimes text broken up over two lines looks better. Like for example:

    XBYO MOVIE
    (2005)

Looks better than: XBYO Movie (2005)

There is no such movie, I just made it up. But being limited to one line, is a limitation I don't like. Actually in Tmpgenc DVD Author, I would like it when typing in text, I would prefer to manipulate individual words, and give them distinct characteristics. Like perhaps have one the title in one colour and a big text with a certain font and then underneath the year of the movie in a smaller font size and a different colour. But Womble has brilliant people I think through time they are going to create a really neat DVD Authorizing Program.

If you are still getting free updates after several years, you are fortunate indeed.

For frame accurate cuts I'll stick with Cuttermaran & PVAStrumento (free vs $140).
Womble were THE pioneers in MPEG editing with their excellent MPEG2VCR (still supported) and MPEGVideoWizard2003 long before TMPGEnc tools and Cuttermaran broke free from their numerous bugs!
Very good VideoReDo and TMPGEncMPEGEditor appeared later.
If you want just a FREE solution, then Cuttermaran (I believe there wasn't any reverse engineering but there was no anything new at that time) is your God.

    @Tom Saurus,

I've never been overly fond of the Text functions in MPEG Video Wizard in general and I hear what you are saying about the Menu limitations, People who are into detailed Menus generally find TDA to be too simplistic in the menu department as well. As far as the upgrades go I just go to the Womble home page, click on the updates link enter my name and e-mail and get linked to the updates download, I remember there was supposed to be a limitation, but I'll take'em as long as they hand em out.

  7. GMaq: Actually the part of Womble Mpeg Video Wizard that is called "Title Editor" is really quite good. Especially when you make sure it has the correct screen size. I have mine set up as 720x480. It allows me to highlight text I have entered in, change the font, the font size, and the colour. The only thing missing is a way to make the letters look like they have more than one dimension. If they could of extended this type of option into the DVD part of Womble Mpeg Wizard DVD, it would help add some pizzaz to the menus. Actually Tmpgenc DVD Author needs that as well.

One can make some snazzy titles in Windows Movie Maker, but there is the limitation of maximum screen size being 360x240 and the resulting file when enlarged to 720x 240 doesn't look good.

I am really hoping that Womble can create something more like Tmpgenc DVD Author when it comes to creating DVDs. There needs to be a DVD Author that is simple, yet have some way of really making neat looking menus in a simple manner. The people at Womble are truly brilliant, and I think they have ability to create a DVD Author that will really blow people's socks off.

This is a very good and easy Guide for Video Wizard.
