I've read some posts in here about issues with Media player classic and unfortunately I've found no solutions

here's my dilemmna....b4 i reformatted my pc everything worked fine...i could take an avi w/ a .srt sub file and put it in convertxdvd and it would convert the file to dvd format and the subs would be play great on my dvd player....I could also load up the dvd and the avi file in media player classic and the subs would automatically play......now that i've reformatted....nothing....what i find strange is that i can open that same avi file in Nero Showtime and it plays the subtitles fine....I've installed ffdshow...xpcodec pack....k-lite codec pack...vobsub etc...i've went into the settings of media player classic and have changed the settings to vmr 7/9 etc...an had no effect

can anyone steer me in the right direction? this is frustrating

Check that VMR7/9 are actually being used.

how do i go about doing that?

i reinstalled every codec w/ xpcodec and also ffdshow....i finally got the subs to work but i had to enable them in ffdshow but the problem is now that these subs play in all the avis i have now...im assuming i have to get rid of the avi and dissable them in ffdshow....i even installed vob sub....

i redid this avi w/ convertxdvd and they are now showing up in the dvd file when played...what will i have to do to make subtitle files...srt....show up for each indivdual avi in stead of having to load them manually?..i have checked all the options that say load automatically

UPDATE...I burned the dvd and the subs arent there....whew...

MPC gives you access to the filters in use. Simple check to see what renderer is being used. You can also import the graph into graphedit if you want a visual representation.

You only need the VFAPI reader codec if you want to create fake avi's via VFAPI for frameserving. For that I'd suggest using AVISynth instead. So basically you don't need it.
