I'm trying to convert a mkv file to mpeg2 but TMPGenc Plus can't open it cause it crashes. So I extracted the avi, ogg & srt but this time the avi file can't be played and TMPGenc just says unsupported. Here's the file info of the mkv

It has no Fourcc, so the tmpgenc cant determine that it is. How did you demux the video ?

FWIW, ConvertXtoDVD can now convert mkv files without the need to demux.

I used MKVextractGUI to demux. Is there a way to make it a FourCC?

There is a FourCC tool to let you change the tag. Try Xvid for starters.

Looks like a native video stream (most likely AVC). But then if it was you could not have extracted the video to an avi.

The FilmMachine can convert mkv to m2v and/or a VIDEO_TS folder. It's freeware so if you don't like it, no harm done.
