  1. Hello everybody
I managed to connect the dvd writer to the computer after a lot of "usb device not recognized".
Now I have another problem. The dvd writer burns cd-s but not dvd-s. I get empty when I introduce a dvd...very strange...does anybody know why?

Are you using a USB 2.0 interface? USB 1.1 will have a hard time with a DVD burner. CD burning is separate from DVD burning. It uses a different laser, though that should have nothing to do with your problem.

The other possibilities are other USB devices on the USB bus causing 'interference'. Keyboards and mice should be OK, but other drives may cause problems. You are probably using the rear USB jacks, but the front ones may sometimes operate slower than the rear ones.

Also using USB hubs can cause problems. One option if you have several high speed USB devices is to get a separate PCI USB 2.0 card and that may help.

The computer recognizes now the dvd writer but it does not want to burn dvd-s, only cd-s.
    I use USB 2.0.
Why is not reading the dvd-s? I've tried with many empty dvd-s and nothing.

Hmmm... what make and model is your writer? How old is it? Are you sure it is a DVD writer and not a combo DVD-ROM drive/CD writer?
