OK, Looooooong story so I'll just give the facts:

I had two avi's that I edited in premiere pro 1.5 then exported both using real media encoder.

#1 exported choosing mpeg-2 DVD - it reads as VCD using "AVIcodec" and mpeg-2 using "G-spot".

#2 exported choosing mpeg-2 (generic) and reads as dvd using both.

I burned both on a DVD-R's. Now, will they both work on regular DVD players? as in if #1 is VCD, but burned on a DVD, will it still work? Reason is is that my dad lives on a whole other continent and it will take him a month to get this, I'd rather all this video off my drive as quick as possible. I know his player won't read CD-R's.

Aside from that, choosing mpeg-2 in the encoder is DVD whereas Mpeg-2 DVD isn't? then why have it?

    Thanks for any help

Post screenshots of your AVICodec and GSpot info - people hear can then confirm or correct your findings.

It'll also help to answer your subsequent questions.
