I would like to record from two microphones to a computer and output the files as plain text amplitude values. I have no idea how to do this; does anyone have any advise. Do I need a special sound card for example?

Do you need to record both channels simultaneously ?
If so you either need a card with two mic inputs, or a good stereo microphone. The other alternative is to get a small audio mixing desk so you can bring the two mics in and output just a single stereo signal to your PC.Read my blog here.

Thanks for your reply: I need both channels simultaneously. Of the top of your head can you recommend a card or mixing desk. Is there a simple how-to or guide somewhere?
