hi, I have a Panasonic DMR-ES20 and I can't figure out how to get it to record upper channels. I have a cable converter box from Time Warner and get tons of channels going up to the 800's but I can't get the DVR to record above like channel 78. It let's me enter the channel when starting to set up a new recording but as soon as I move over to the recording time it goes back to the last recorded channel (which was 46 btw). Thanks for the help!

  2. That is because the channels above 100 are usually encrypted.
Channels 2 to 99 are usually analog and therefore can be directly viewed.

The channels above roughly 100 are digital, not analog. To record them hook up the DVR input to the ouput of the cable box - either via the line level RCA jacks or the coax RF output.
Of course this means that you are stuck watching what you are recording. Hope this helps.
