  1. Hello,

    I am trying to convert my captured video into x264 codec. Several weeks ago I was able to do it, but after reinstalling my computer, I am not able to see x264 codec in VirtualDub compression menu. This is exactly picture what I saw before (https://www.videohelp.com/toolsimages/x264_vfw_codec_810.jpg). Unfortunately I didn't see the codec in Control Panles - Sound - Video Codecs.

    I downloaded the EXE file from x264.nl, I have installed Storm Codec Pack, I have ffdshow, I have MeGUI, but still I am not able to see it in VirtualDub compression menu. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong ? Thanks for help in advance.

    x264's VfW encoder is no more; what you would have is the cli encoder which VDub can't use since it is VfW based. Time to learn to get by without VfW.

  3. So if I good underestand, it is not possible to have x264 codec in VirtualDub? Strange is, that I had it in VirtualDub two weeks ago.

    Not possible since x264 never was a codec. It is an encoder only. The Vfw code was only recently removed. Two weeks ago there probably still was a VfW encoder. If you really want to encode via VDub, then just grab an old VfW build or wait for someone to release a new build from the old VfW code and new core code.

    X264 version history http://www.afterdawn.com/software/version_history/x264.cfm

    Note on that page:

    Changes from x264 full rev. 579 to x264 full rev. 581

    * no more vfw

    Good luck.
