I don't know if this is how long it's supposed to take, or if there is something I need to change to get it to go faster, but it takes FOREVER! Does anyone know how to speed it up? I followed the instructions on how to make a SVCD and I guess I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong.

This is normal with tmpgenc. It usually encodes 2-3x the time of what your encoding depending on settings. Motion search..etc...I have a athlon xp 1900+ and 2 pass vbr on a 2 1/2 hour movie takes 8 hours to complete.

What did you excpected? It is not so easy to see movies in real time scale (you need something like Pentium II 400MHz) but for transforming from one format to another you need at least twice as much (just to open packed video and pack it in a new format) but if you are trying to change fps from 23 to 29 fps or to do some motion interpolation to make it better it will take much more time....(it works frame by frame!!!)
