I am still looking for a HDMI Upconversion DVD Recorder. I have tried 2 DVD Recorders and no luck. I tried Panasonic DMR ES25S and LG DR1F9H. Both of them have trouble playing Home Brew DVD's off the computer. I have a JVC and a Phillips DVD player that play them perfectly and I want to find a Upconversion DVD Recorder. Any Advice or any news on upcoming DVD Recorders I would appreciate it.

Samsung, Philips and Toshiba make recorder models with HDMI upconversion.

Look at the media you are using and the brand of DVDwriter you are using on the computer.

The Panasonic and LG players are sufficiently different that I suspect your disks.

I use DVD+R by Phillips and Verbatim most of the time and never have had a problem. I am looking for a Recorder that plays and records with +/-R.

I havent found a Phillips DVD Recorder that has HDMI Upconversion. The Phillips DVDR3400 has HDMI output but say nothing about Upconverting.

  5. Take one of your disks to a big store and try them in the display models.

My Panasonic 45V has done well.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

I would but I dont think the store would like for me to stand there while the movie plays, the last two I tried would freeze up several times during the movie. I have a Phillips and JVC DVD player plays all my burned dvds perfect.

  7. I use a separate hard drive equipped DVD recorder and upscaling DVD player in my setup. It saves lots of wear and tear on the recorder, while the relatively inexpensive upscaling DVD player does a great job and seems to be able to play everything I throw at it. I'm using a Sony DVP-NS75H upscaling DVD player with HDMI out and it performs very well. You should also have a look at the Oppo upscaling players.
