  1. OK, I bought a new printer. During the install there was a part that said it was going to align the nozzles (Or something like that) I accidentally skipped that. I couldn't return to it and I'm not sure how to do it any other way. How important is it that I get this done. I've done this with 2 other printers and haven't needed to correct nozzles.

It's in Japanese which makes it that much harder. Any help?

The alignment is important if you are doing color prints or pages. Not a big deal for black & white text and will probably have no effect there if not done. The test page is just to see if the printer is working. If it is, you can skip that.

Usually when you load the printer drivers, there is also a printer utilities page loaded from the CD disc. It should be under your printer name in 'Programs'. You can look there for alignment, nozzle cleaning and other printer utilities.

If you don't see it there, try looking in 'Control Panel>Printers and Faxes'. But it's usually in 'Programs'. If you have a printer from a major manufacturer, you may be able to go to their website and get an English version of their drivers and utilities. Or get some help with the Japanese.

You only have to figure it out once and should not have to align again unless you take out a color cartridge or replace one.

  3. THanks...I was thinking about using English drivers but worried that it wouldn't work. I've emailed Canon to see what they say.

  4. Go to Control Panel->Printers and Faxes->Printing Preferences:
As for another language:it shouldn't matter...drivers are drivers.
