    Ok my question is:

how can I record a TV show with subtitles.

I've been trying to do this but it says that the teletext is not available. And before I had my recordr I could use this perfectly.

So if anyone can halp me I would appreciate.
    Thanks

P.S. This is how i've everything connect, but I've tried other ways alredy.

  2. The teletext information is carried in a part of the video that you can't see. The television has a decoder which creates the subtitles when it displays the video on the screen. You can't record that image (unless you point a camera at the screen!)

When you record the video on to tape such as VHS, the teletext information is recorded but the data rate is too high for the recording to preserve correctly. If you play the tape back and try to turn on the subtitles/teletext, you will get something but it will likely be garbled.

For example, the BBC's teletext service is called Ceefax and, when I was much younger, I found it very amusing that, from VHS, it would often come up as Ceefux.

In other parts of the world, teletext isn't used and (in my opinion) an inferior system is used for subtitles (Closed Captions). The data rate for the Closed Captions is much less than for teletext and it can be reliably recorded on VHS tape. But you still need a TV with a decoder to display the text.

If you record with an S-VHS or DV recorder, you stand more chance of recovering the teletext information. The DV specification even permits the encoding data to be stored within the DV stream and recreated later, though, sadly, not many DV devices implement this feature.

Your setup isn't clear. If you are trying to capture the encoded teletext on a DVD recorder, then you are out of luck. There is no provision in the spec for teletext data. If you have decoded the data and overlaid it onto a video signal that is then routed to a TV, then you should be able to put your recorder between the decoder and your TV (the text would be hardcoded onto the video).

    Perhaps you could clarify.

Ok thanks to both, I really don't understand everything of that "language" so the only thing I need to know is: can I record that with Video Recorder.

    Thanks.

  5. Is the teletext in the TV or the box that receives the channels?
