I have a dilema. I'm trying to make copies of a tv series from DVD, but each DVD only has 1 or 2 episodes per disk, 17 episodes total on 10 dvd's. What I'd like to do is convert them down to @ 4 or so DVD's because right now each disk contains @ 1.7gb worth of files.

Now I know using decrypter ifo mode I can copy all the episodes to a folder and then just burn groups of the episodes. But I assume this would kill using any menu function? Plus would it cause problems then trying to use it on a standalone dvd player going forward?

    Any help would be appreciated.

It wont play on many standalone dvd players. You must reauthor to one video_ts folder with correct dvd structure. You can use for example tda if you want menus. Or use dvd shrink in the reauthoring mode to make one dvd from several video_ts(no menu).

Thanks. The menu's not a big deal to me if I'm just going to play the disk on the computer, it was more the case I thought it would be needed for use on a standalone should I want to use it there. I hadn't thought about using Shrink, but that would make the most sense if I just wanted to compress 4-6 episodes per disk.

What about dvdremake? Would that work in this scenario?

If you want to watch the video, use DVDshrink 3.2, and do this.

Rip each episode to a mpeg2 file approx 850mb each (assuming 5 ep on 1 dvd). Anything less than 4 hours on 1 dvd should be ok.

Then use a dvd authoring software to put 5 files into 1 dvd and create menu.

To just watch on a computer, convert to DivX. Much more compact than DVD MPEG.
