I have a vob with two subtitle tracks, which plays fine by itself, including subs. I've made an xvid avi without the subs burned in, and then extracted the subs in idx/sub format with ffmpegx. But when I try to watch with vlc, the subs just aren't there until the last quarter or so, and then both sub tracks appear at the same point in the movie (You can select the subs in the menu from the beginning, but they don't appear till later).
This is a tv series and I had the same problem with one other episode. There I was able to rip the subs from the original video_ts folder with another program in VPC and they work fine, though the program said there were bad sectors in the header or something like that.
I only have the vob for this episode so I'm wodering how to get working subtitle files for vlc. I've tried ripping to .srt with ffmpegx but I get an error message at the end. I'm also not able to burn the subtitles into the video with this vob.
Any suggestions? I can also work with Windows apps in VPC.
