Hello sdsumike619, Many in this group tend to stay away from anything from TigerDirect.

But some don't have any problem with them.

Some don't like rebates, some have had problems with shipping costs, some have had problems with the way things were packed for shipping. I personally have never experienced any problems on anything I've ordered from them and have been a very satisfied customer.

I was more concerned with the system itself for encoding video... specifically the motherboard/cpu combo.. I have an old Athlon 1800XP system that crawls...

It looks like a pretty good deal for what it is. You will probably want to add more memory and a second hard drive and if you add much more you may want to bump up the power supply, but you don't need to do any of that up front.

I've never had any problems with Tiger Direct. I order occasionally from the company. You do have to watch the quality of some on their 'no-name' parts. Some of their cheaper cases, you may need a few spare bandaids as in a lot of sharp edges. With most of their stuff, if you stick to name brand or are careful reading the specs, they're OK.

If you are really interested in that package, I would add a couple of 120mm case fans if they aren't included. Get low speed (Quiet) ones. I would also question the quality of the power supply in that case. If a PS goes, it often takes the whole computer with it. Not a place to scrimp. I'm also not a fan of VIA chipsets, but that's just a personal opinion.

Also, you would want a second hard drive for video use. You could get a smaller SATA and use the one included for the video drive.

Other than what I mentioned, if that's what you want, go for it.

Rebates are always a pain in the ass, but I've always gotten them from TD. Just takes a while.

For video encoding, these do help.

    apparently, hyperthreading is very important:

I noticed that, on the same page, was an ad for this:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=2271184&sku=N27-1892

Even the pre-rebate price was less than I paid for mine. Hmm, might be time to get a "spare" just in case. I'm totally happy with my current NEC drive ... and would probably be doubly happy with two.

Dual core is better than hyperthreading any day.
