  1. Just wondering if anyone would know anyway to convert wmv files from VH1's v spot or FLV files from MTV's overdrive.

The files play fine on my computer in the right media player (windows media player for WMV and FLV player) however the converter programs cannot covert them.

The VH1 files I used WM recorder to record and the MTV files I just grabbed the files from my internet temp folder and saved them to my video folder. I have tried videoera and about 5 different of the pay software converter programs (xilisoft, etc).

Doesn't make sense to me that they can play but not be converted.

  3. I have tried winavi and totalvideo converter, neither would work. I will try super and media coder when I get home and maybe one of those will work. Just a head scratcher though as they play perfectly but something must be wrong somewhere in the files...

Just because you can play them doesn't mean that they are easily convertable, like drm wmvs.

One last option is to use a screengrabber tool, disable overlay and capture.

  5. ahhh, that must be the case then since I am grabbing the files from MTV/VH1 - they must have some sort of drm or protection that is allowing them to be converted. I was hoping to be able to just convert them into Ipod videos so I can watch any video on their site on my ipod. I have yet to try a screen grabber tool so I can try that, from my experience with them in the past they don't work too well but might work well enough since I will only be looking to play them on Ipod really.
