...is it really compatible wit every type of DVD recorder out there? So far my Sharp DVD recorder has only worked with Sony DVD-RW 1x-2x and I'm told it will work with only 2x or 4x DVD-Rs....but yesterday a CS rep told me that when Bluray comes out it will play on all units.

Also, is that why they seem to be selling DVD-Rs at such low prices, almost like they want to get rid of them?

BTW - If this info is right before my eyes on this site and I missed it - sorry. And I'm not asking how the media will work on a computer, it's solely for DVD recorder use.

Blu Ray disc requires a Blu Ray Player/Recorder. It will NOT work on a any current DVD Player/Recorder.

The CS Rep lied to you, unless the rep knows how to turn red to blue.

My guess is that they were confused, or lied to themselves, and are using it as gospel. Too bad they aren't as intelligently inquisitive as you.

Oh, well, thanks for the replies. I guess maybe the CS Rep just wanted to get me off the phone so he told me something that would actually make me happy, since he had just told me they don't make the only media my recorder will work with anymore.

    So sad.

Have you checked into seeing if there's a firmware upgrade for your unit that will allow it to recognize other brands/speeds/formats?

I finally found some compatible DVD-Rs, so right now I'm just going to stick with the recorder as is. I wish I knew about this site before I bought my recorder, but now that I do, I'll be more informed when I buy my next one. This site has been really helpful. I'm so glad I found it. I really appreciate people answering my newbie questions.
