I encountered a DVD in which the first audio track was labelled SDDS. The remainder where the usual configurations of AC3. What is SDDS? Is there some advantage to it, and are there tools for decoding it?

Its sonys version of digital surround sound. I don't know of any home decoders that can decode this though. Oh yeah, it stands for Sony Dynamic Digital Sound. I've seen it used in theaters as an alternative to dolby digital or DTS.
