replacing titles in already authored dvd

hope someone can help me with this one
a friend of mine recently transferred 2 vhs tapes of mine to dvd
the tapes are of a comedy series which had about 39 episodes over a number of years
2 of the episodes were fake documentarys about a rock band
it was these 2 episodes which my friend transferred to dvd
in doing so he made an amazing motion menu
recently the entire comedy series came out on dvd which i purchased
i now wish to use the menu my friend created but replace the episodes which were
transferred from vhs with the dvd quality episodes which have from my box set
can this be done using either freeware or some inexpensive software
i am no longer in contact with the guy who made the vhs transfers so cant ask him
sorry about the long winded explanation many thanx in advance.

ps if anyone can recommend some software could you point me in the right direction for
guides for it thanx again!

You could always try using VOB Blanker to replace the titles/episodes on the DVD your friend made with the titles/episodes from the official DVD release.

This guide (even though it talks a lot about DVDShrink) has a good section in it on how to replace titles with VOB Blanker:
