  1. Did anyone ever get their free month or upgrade? Last I knew it was supposed to be settled in June, haven't heard anything since.

Late June was the deadline for opting in or out. The settlement has been approved but not finalized. It won't become effective until judgement is passed on all appeals and all deadlines to file appeals have passed. As soon as this happens all class members (those who opted in or failed to opt out) will be sent an email about it. So you just have to keep waiting.

After the settlement was first approved it was held up by challenges from class members and the FTC. The main argument was how the upgrades were recurring after the first month, and you would therefore be automatically charged. They ended up negotiating an amended settlement and now the upgrades are not recurring...which is a good thing.

To follow the status of the settlement keep checking the official settlement page.

they sent me an email a few months ago offering a free month of the 4 at a time option, but i was in the middle of moving to my new house and figured one month of 4 at a time instead of 3 at a time would be wasted -- and I was right.
since buying a house, my netflix usage has seriously dropped off
