  1. I have a lot of DVDs that I like to put it on AVI so that I can build a library for my Media Center and watch it as I like it, but for AVI I can't see any possibility to have a chapter search anywhere. Can someone help me with that? I like to have chapter in a compressed file because all or mostly of my DVD is Live Concert and I like to chapter it by songs. I don't mind if is in other form than AVI, just HELP me? Thanks.

It is at least backwards compatible. You could also go with mkv, ogm, mp4, dsm, etc. and have chapters. With the DivX it should playback with anything that supports avi, just without chapters. With the others, it wouldn't play at all.

Chapters in avi though? The answer is no.

  4. Thanks guys, I will take some time to try the DivXMediaBuilder.
Thanks, but wouldn't it be great to have AVI with chapters on it?

Well that is basically what divx is; avi with chapters in it and no I don't think it is that great. Time to let avi die.

You can understand why DXN went that way though. If they had gone with mp4 or a new format, then people with older DivX hardware would be pissed off when the new files didn't work. By extending/hacking avi, you get backwards compatibility.
