    I really hope someone can help me understand what I'm doing wrong here. I've been trying to author a dvd of a live concert for a few months now, and have been severely delayed by the fact that when I try and create chapters for each song it's creating a pause in the video. I'd like for my dvd to playback as any normal dvd would, playing smoothly through chapter marks.

    I am using DVDMaestro to author using one 55 minute video source, manually inputting chapter points as the source file didn't originally have any chapters. I've read a bunch of confusing comments, but can't seem to find a straight answer on how to or if I can fix the problem. When previewing my dvd in Maestro the video does not hang. Also if I compile the dvd and test the vob files before burning them, I don't see the video hang. The length of the hang on burned DVDs differs by dvd player, and on my computer could almost be missed, but the vob files genuinely look ok before I burn them. I saw someone mention reloading the ifo files in ifoedit and running it through "get vts sectors" but this had no effect. I've wasted at least 25 dvds trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, but I am almost out of hope that I can ever fix it. I don't know anything about GOPs. I have put a ton of work into this dvd though and can't run it through a different program because only DVDMaestro meets my subtitling needs.

    Is there *anything* I can do to get this dvd to play smoothly? Will Maestro's chapters only work smoothly if I have a chapter file to import and use? Any suggestions would be more than appreciated, this is driving me crazy~ ^^;;;;

    Thank you for reading~!! ^-^

    Thank you for replying so quickly~ ^-^ I was actually looking at that link just before I posted. I should have added that in addition to not knowing anything about GOPs, I also don't know anything about VMs. I apologize for starting a new thread on something so recent, I got quite confused by that other thread. If I am understanding correctly now, then if I remove the links on the connection page in Maestro, I should be able to get them to play smoothly, is that right? I was making the same mistake as the other author I think, and assuming I was picking what would be next using a dvd remote. Where can I really tell Maestro where I want tracks to lead? Thank you for your help~ ^^

    You just answered your own question.

    YES!
    If you have a single title and it has chapters, you do NOT want to assign the [END] action of Ch3 to be Ch4. It will do that automatically anyway, and the assignment causes addition "VM" cell commands to be inserted that will cause delays, sometimes very noticeable delays.

    There is a article in one of the technotes supplied with Maestro that actually went into this very situation.

    edit:
    IOW, unless you are doing something very unusual with the title, you only want the LAST end action in a "Movie" (title) to have a destination.

    Thank you so much~! I knew I'd end up feeling stupid in the end, but it's probably worth it to see this nearly abandoned project finally working right. Thank you for tolerating my stupidity and helping me to find a solution to my problem~!!!! ^-^
