Hello,
I've had a few people testing some software report that their standalone DVD recorders with DV input do not show up when connected to a PC via Firewire.
Is this a universal "feature"? Has anybody successfully connected a DV-in capable DVD recorder to a PC via Firewire and recorded DV from the PC to the DVD recorder? If so, which DVD recorder?
Or - have you tried this and failed? Again, if so, which recorder?
Many thanks,
John.

I have a Mac rather than a PC. I've sent DV video from iMovie to my Pioneer DVR-510H via Firewire. The Pioneer only accepts DV video so other sources on the computer won't transfer (unless converted). One thing that confuses the issue is it doesn't work if I use the DV camera menu on the Pioneer or use the camera export settings in iMovie. iMovie does have a "Play DV project video through to DV camera" preference that must be turned on. When I select DV input on the Pioneer the video streaming from the main editing window in iMovie appears on the TV screen and I press record.
