I have a Medion Laptop which has a CD/DVD burner identified by Windows as HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082N.
I've had a couple of problems burning Verbatim DVD+RW 4X discs where the burn (used CloneDVD) seemed to be OK but I got unknown Disc when playing on my stand-alone DVD player and then I couldn't erase the disc (not re-writable reported).
I want to check the characteristics of the drive to see what it supports etc.
I know about DVDInfoPro but this has always annoyed me because it expires every few weeks.
I know I found something just as good that was FREEWARE and didn't constantly need updating but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.
Can someone point me in the right direction as I don't know what to look for?
Thanks

Your Standalone(in your profile) is not capable of recognizing DVD+RW discs or +R discs. It also has spotty DVD-R/-RW support.
DVDInfoPro will not expire if you pay the one time fee. Remember Freeware is not Free. If you use it the author would appreciate a donation towards their efforts in providing you a quality experience. -
Thanks for the reply. I have updated my profile as I realised it was out of date.
I accept all you say about DVDInfoPro but I would still like to trace the FREEWARE utility I found that did everything that DVDInfoPro and which would satisfy my limited needs.
