I want to upload an 80MB file to either my site via FTP or any method or to something like YouSendiT but my transfer speed is 40kbps at best. I don't want my browser or FTP client to timeout as a result, so what can I do to avoid that problem?

Iknow with Mozilla Firefox you can disable timing out. Other option is a faster connection. I have the same problem. My max up is like 60 kb yet I know folks that claim almost a Meg /sec

there a setting to change the idle time before it disconnects..... by default it about hour!! many times even though your uploading or downloading.. some dialup willnot recognize that as being a active condition but a idle condion.. smile... I would probably chang it to either never, 8 hours or 24 hour setting...!
in your case 80 megs on a analog dialup!! , if at one shot, that going to be about a at least 6 hours upload time!!!! that a awfull long time for a analog connection to stay good... ie ; noise issues interferring or glitches onthe net... grrr. smimle.... good luckk!! -
I'd say split them into 1 meg chunks and upload them separately.

I'd say put a .torrent file on your website and tell people to get Azureus. Then you won't have to worry about diskspace on your web server or interrupted uploads. The file will be available to anyone as long as you, or anyone else who has downloaded the video already, have their PC on.
