I have seen this happen with Divx/Xvid source material in Premiere Pro. You could try converting it to something else using virtualdub - perhaps lagarith or huffyuv (even DV)
Read my blog here.

colosher:
I see you have the source window (the one on the left) highlighted, noting the blue bars on the top and bottom of the window. If you click on the program window (the one on the right) it will become active and you should then be able to view the program sequence.
This is of course if nothing else is wrong.Michael

i tried other sources as well even those i had alrealy recode with virtualdub , it just give me a black screen
Michael33
it does not matter whether if i click on either on the window.
if i drag a video file onto the timeline, and press playback (spacebar) i should able to watch the videofeed on the right hand side of the monitor
plz help because this thing starting to bug me. -
colosher:
Please try again. Pressing the spacebar while the source window is highlighted will NOT play the sequence in the program window on the right. I am 110% positive about this. You must either click the program window to highlight it before pressing the spacebar OR press the Return (Enter) key to switch to the program window and start playing the sequence immediately.
Your screen capture shows the source material on the timeline as being unrendered, so it certainly isn't DV AVI or some other content that can be edited natively without rendering in Premiere Pro. Probably the source of your problem as guns1inger suggests. You may try rendering the work area first and then see if it will playback.Michael

i found out where the problem lies , its what guns1inger suggest.
the reasson i choose render in XvD over all other codeces was it had almost crstyal clear output + it can be compress into a small amount of mb without lossing much pixels if u know how to adjust it well
who know pp doesnt support the format. ? speaking of which
is there like a list of codec that pp 1.5 do or dont support ?
p.s
Thanks for the suggestion , guns1inger sorry being rude the other day. i was in Frustration and was over my head didnt think twice what u said.
look like i got lots to learn.
