    Hi

    I have a movie which is an AVI and I want to convert it to a MEPG (SVCD).

    Anyway the movie is in 2 halfs and when I start to encode it goes fine.

    After a few minutes or around 2 - 3% of the movie been encoded the movie just fails. Like it starts out saying I only have to wait 4 - 5 hours but after 2 - 3% the time blows out for 21 hours. This isnt normal behaviour when I use this program. It usually takes about 4 - 5 hours tops. The AVI files are only around 150 meg each.

    Ive even downloaded the new TMPGne 2.50 and it does the same.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    try using virtual dub first and reencode it to avi then use tmpeg

    settings:
    audio->compression->divx wma audio v2[64kbps,44mhz,stereo(for audio/video)

    Video->compression->divxmpeg4(low-motion)->configuration->data rate 6000

    then go to file->save avi and name it

    No good. Virtual Dub wont let me access the Avi file stating something along the lines that Micro$soft has asked virtual dub to remove the ability to convert asf blah blah blah.

    So I went and got my hands on a Virtual Dub 1.3 and that wont do it either.

    Any ideas??
