  1. Hey I have had this crackling sound for quite a while now! I have tryed external speakers, and have the same problem. Its quite intermittent crackling, it will happen every 45 minutes or so. If you stop playing the music/video, it will then stop crackling and come back again later.

    I have the following:
    sigmatel c-major (6.13.10.9010)

Now, I have heard this a problem with these drivers. I used the drivers supplied on the recovery disk for quite a while, and had no problems! But I decided to re-install everything without the packard bell crap, and tryed the newest drivers. I am not certain, but it may have been only happening since I upgraded drivers. I am not sure on which version I was using, and cant access it on the recovery disk.

Is there any drivers which are known to eliminate this problem?

    Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the setup, but a quick Google search for 'sigmatel c-major crackling' gave me more than a page of links concerning the problem. You might want to explore there.

  3. Seems I have figured it out It seems as if its when I change my phono plugs, I have some pc speakers which I use in combination with headphones and also my 5.1 system. I hadnt used the 5.1 system or change plugs for a long time, and didnt notice any crackling. After I changed plugs and plugged in the 5.1 system, it started crackliong intermittently again.

Now, I did have a splitter to connect both at the same time, but it didnt work with the 5.1 system as the two rear speakers wouldnt work with the splitter connected.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? I am guessing maybe its a static problem as I switch plugs with the pc on. Does this happen if you change when turning off the pc and switching? Not sure if I can do that to be honest, as I switch the speakers often and dont shut my pc down (maybe once a week).

Also please note, I hear the crackle in both speakers; the pc speakers and 5.1 system.

    Thanks!
