With the reappearence of TeeGee, Mackem threatening to close the Pub, the few other spin off sites and such, I have of late been finding myself triping down Memory Lane.

This is going in no paticular direction as these little trips never tend to do and it will most likely look like the ramblings of a madman.

First, but not necessarily first, Welcome back TeeGee. I remember him from his many post and mainly his "chain rattling" avatar. To be honest I don't really remember any direct conversations, counsultations or confrontations with him that stand out, just that it seemed that he was always there with something and it was always appreciated. I admit that I did feel a loss for him while he was gone. And whenever his name came up I would be reminded of the past and some of the good times that seemed to be had by all and somehow the emptiness, void or space in the line always saddened me. Should it be strange that an association with annonymous pepole would conjur such emotions?

There are others that I sometimes think of, Cap, Bazooka, Gmtov (?), Pac, ShadowMistress and the first to respond to my first post Smoky808(?) there are many others, and I am embarrassed to say that I am terrible with names and my memory is failing. I know that time moves on and that people come and go and that is just the way it is. This is after all a trip down Memory Lane and my mind is a jalopy (junk car)

Not to reopen any old wounds, but I remember the "OT Fallout" as it might be called, but why. (Don't answer) I mean to what end? So OT has become a "members only area". I don't recall any major spill overs into the other areas (OK don't point out any that might have) My point, if there is one here, is that it seems that many have come and gone and that was a time when it seemed like members were dropping like flies. My point? I don't know, maybe amnesty, forgiveneness or just old memories?

Up next, The Name Game. Just wondering howmany different names that folks use here or at the spin off sites. A kind of who is who, so to speak. I know that there are, or were, a few aliases going around. I was able to keep up with a few at one point or another, but it has long since been lost in the shuffle and I had a hard time keeping up with who was who even when they were whoever.

Lost time. For me anyways. According to my stats I signed up Jan 03. I suppose that is correct. However I think that I lurked around the site for a year or more off and on before that. (It would be neat to find out the first time that I stumbled across this place). Back then it seemed that Newbs were getting jumped on pretty hard, I didn't know squat (not like I know much more now) and I wasn't about to get ground into the dirt my first post. So I actually read up on a few things first.

As I read up on VCDs and the like, I kind of fell into the groove of following some of the Off Topic stuff, which at the time, as I remember, was intermingled with more of the On Topic stuff, or was it that the OnTopics drifted towards OffTopic? At any rate there was alot of talk and not always alot being said (kind of like now huh?). There were the guys that backed up everything that another said and guys that argued everything that anybody said. There was always some banter, freindly name calling and such and even some that may not have been so freindly. (Almost like real life).

So I got over my fear of getting jumped on, and in a word, I jumped in. I have tried to be civil in most of my post, there may be a couple that might lean towards the edge a bit. I think that I know the limits and I know when I am pushing the envelope, not that I do very often. I may have ruffeled a few feathers from time to time, but I hold no grudges and have few regrets.

What does any of this have to do with lost time? I don't know, except that it seems like I have been here forever, or the site has been here forever, how could all of this part of my life only taken place in the last three or four years?

The morale of the story? I don't know. Does there have to be one? I did say that this was a trip down memory Lane. That these could be the ramblings of a mad man. Why the memories? After all, all I wanted was to learn how to put some video clips of the kids on a CD and send them to the family. The process is documented and instructions and information abound if you look for it. Why did I stop here and stick around?

    The people I guess.

Cheers, Thanks and good luck to all.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

Off-topic was made "login-only" (not really the same as "members-only, since anybody can join VH) because a lot of the non-video conversations were weighing in with higher ranks on Google than the video content of the site.

When you type "video help" into Google and the top reply is an OT thread about goat sex on videohelp.com, there's a problem.

It was a problem of image, the seriousness of the site, and a topic that could prevent donations and advertisers.

amnesty? Very few people have been forced out and when they were it was, as far as I've ever noticed, for very valid reasons.

Anyone else is welcome to come back, they just have to show up.

I miss some things about the "old days" also. Some things. :P
