  1. Hi everybody,

I wanted to put some videos encoded with DivX and AC3 on a disc and play it on my player. Only problem is that according to Sony customer support this combination is not possible with this player.

Now, my questions is how can I make it possible? Maybe changing the tag of the audio stream from AC3 to MP3 so the player at least tries to play the movie? Which tool can I use for that?

    Or is there another way?

  2. Divxtest.com says it plays divx with AC3:

Maybe you need to update the firmware.

  3. Then DivXTest.com must be wrong in my case. I already updated the firmware to version 2.2 (newest). Every video with DivX + AC3 = data error

  4. You could try downloading their test cd. It will give you some known baselines to test with.

What happens when you try to play a Divx/AC3 file? Does it play with no sound? Or does it not play at all? If it plays without sound it might simply be sending the audio only to the digital outputs. There might be semething you can change in the setup menus.

  5. I just made the DivX + AC3 Test on the DivX TestCD v2 and it is working.

Now I have to ask myself what went wrong with the burning of the movies.

I just picked up the files and burned them as a ISO CD with Nero.

Strange thing here is that files with "natural" MP3 codec are making no problems at all. But every file with AC3 stream or a converted MP3 stream(!) is not playing. Right after insert the data error message appears.
