I connected my digicam to my TV and captured it's video footage from my TV in "uncompressed avi" format but Shrink doesn't recognize it, when I look at the file's properties, it reads "windows Movie", I need to edit this footage in Shrink, what can i do to make this work please?

do you mean dvd shrink? it is ONLY for dvd video.

I don't understand what's happening here, I first captured in DVD format and now in Uncompressed avi and both files are showing as "windows movie" files, this never happened before, any ideas why?

As baldrick mentioned dvd shrink is for authored vob files only. You have to take your mpeg or avi files and author them to a dvd structure on your harddrive. Then you can use dvd shrink to compress them if its too large for a single layer disc.

Probably whats happening is windows is identifying any video file as a windows movie file - you might have windows media player set as your default media player.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

No, WMP is not set as my default player, Nero is, even when I check the file's properties, it reads "Opens with Nero" so I still have no idea why these files are show ing as Windows Media Movie?

Probably because your default capture app IS Windows Movie Maker.

Nope, my capture card was always set to "dvd" capture and after getting this problem the first time, I then set it to Uncompressed avi and same result, it is showing the avi extension but the file type shows as WMM.

Is the dvd capture to an mpg file? Televisions usually can't capture anything. What capture device are you using? If it is a DVD recorder, you should be able to use shrink on it like any other disc.

That doesn't mean anything. DVD / Uncompressed AVI are just your capture destination and profile settings. And what did you think WMM stands for? Windows Movie Maker!

How about you try to capture from VDubMod?

I am using a leadtek card to capture from the TV, always worked fine capturing to mpeg in the past and the Capture format I always chose was "DVD", I only switched to "Uncompressed avi" to see if I would get the same "Windows Movie" result which is what's happening right now.

I don't get it, with every capture I have done before, I have never had any of my files show as Window Movie, why now?
