  1. Hello,

    I purchased NEC ND-3550A (fw1.05) a couple of months
    ago, and replaced my NEC-3520A.
I burned about 30 discs so far. I watched 5 of them
(burned as DVD-Video using Nero) and found that I had
problems with 3 out of those 5 discs. There was a
glitch with a short pause on all 3 discs. 2 of them
are Philips DVD+Rs 1-16x (CMC, M01) and 1 is Sony
    DVD+R 1-16x (Sony, D21)

Anyway, I checked the original VIDEO_TS files saved on
my computer, and they played fine. I played the
problem discs on my computer, and they played fine. I
also used Nero CD/DVD-speed/scan test on them, and it
was fine. I reburned original files onto discs from
the same packs that those 3 discs came in, and they
played fine though I only checked the place where
short pause was. I ripped those 3 discs and re-burned
onto new discs, and there was no pause or glitches
though again, I only checked where pause was.

I didn't have problems like this with my old NEC
ND-3520A. At least not that often.
I'm wondering if this 3550 is defective. I don't know
much about DVD burners. I'm hoping that someone here
can help me determine if the problem is with this new
    burner.
I've done everything that I can think of (which isn't
that many, I'm sure) trying to find out the problem.
I still don't know what it is.

I really don't know what else I can do. If someone
can help me, I'd really really appreciate it!

I forgot to mention that I played the 3 discs on my
Philips, RJTech, and Koss DVD players. They all had
    problems.

I think your problem is probably a media quality and/or burn speed issue.

also 2 of those dvd players seem a bit on the cheep side and may play a part alos.

    Just my opinion.
