    Hi

I decided to do the crazy thing of squeezing 3-4 movies (all unrestricted region-free!) with DVD SHRINK including 5.1 DD track and 1 or 2 subtitles stream per movie. Also cut off a bit of the beginning & all end credits for all the movies.

With 3 movies the total amounts to 6-7GBs in DVDSHRINK, while 4 movies can be around 8-9GBs. I don't include bonus features!

All movies are RIPPED on my HDD.

I want to 3-in-1 & 4-in-1 with DVD SHRINK for later authoring & burning on DVD5 but I can't get it to SHRINK lower than the above figures.

I don't want to lose the division of chapters (otherwise I gotta do them manually!) & chosen subtitles when re-authoring afterwards outside DVDSHRINK.

I think you get to keep scenes split but lose the subs in TMPG DVD AUTHOR.

I tried to use custom ratio shrinking but it has its limit!

I tried DVD SHRINK them 2nd time, still OVER-THE-LIMIT.

What else can I use to shrink such big DVD files?

I know I will lose a LOT of VISUAL QUALITY but, hey, I'm just experimenting!

    CHEERS!

Shrink has it's limits, no matter what you try to do with it. Think of the Shrink process as throwing out parts of the video it doesn't think you will miss. It can only throw out so much. You need to re-encode, not transcode like Shrink does, to get the videos down that small.

Try DVD Rebuilder, it may do what you want.

Or you could do something like use vob2mpg and put it through tmpgenc. Then you can set the exact bitrate for each show. It will be slower than dvdshrink becuase you are reencoding them. But you will have a better shot at reaching your file size goal.

Oh and by the way yes you will definitely lose quality

Or you could buy a dual layer dvd burner and some dl blanks. The burners go for under $50 new nowadays if you shop right. Also blanks are getting more reasonable. That way you won't have to cram as much since you'll have 8gigs to use.
