    Fla. restaurant sells $100 hamburger

BOCA RATON, Fla. - A hundred bucks might buy you more than six dozen burgers from McDonald's, but the swanky Old Homestead Steakhouse will sell you one brawny beef sandwich for the same price.

Boca Raton Mayor Steven Abrams could barely speak between bites as he devoured the 20-ounce, $100 hamburger billed as the "beluga caviar of sandwiches."

"Heaven on a bun," restaurant owner Marc Sherry said.

The burger debuted Tuesday at the restaurant in the Boca Raton Resort and Club, where a membership costs $40,000 and an additional $3,600 a year.

"We've never had a hamburger on our menu here so we really wanted to go to the extreme," Sherry said, calling it "the most decadent burger in the world."

At about 5 1/2 inches across and 2 1/2 inches thick, the mound of meat is comprised of beef from three continents — American prime beef, Japanese Kobe and Argentine cattle.

The bill for one burger, with garnishing that includes organic greens, exotic mushrooms and tomatoes, comes out to $124.50 with tax and an 18 percent tip included. The restaurant will donate $10 from each sale to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Uhh... since when The USA and Argentina are in two different continents?, did I have a crazy Geography teacher or is this M*fer one of the "NORTH AMERICA and south america" = two different planets" kind of guy?

...and regarding the burguer, my personal take is: $10 to the make a wish foundation and hold the burger, thank you very much!

Uh... North America and South America are separate continents. Not "separate" separate, but kind of attached, separate. Still two continents, nonetheless.

  3. Our school teachers taught us that there are 5 continents in the world.

America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

Separated by what... the Panama Canal?

Then according to your concept, Europe and Asia should be one continent instead of two.

As a matter of fact, there are 3 Americas: North, Central and South. Then central America should be another continent too.

I just read the article and it seems that the answer is a little more complicated than just to say 5 6 or 7.

It seems that the definition of continent "varies" according to several reasons.

I'm going to start another thread to see how it develops, so let's stick with the burger theme here.

Ever seen the $200 peanut butter and jelly/ grilled cheese. It comes with a bottle of Dom. I've seen this gimick on several different menus.
