Hi,
I'm pretty newbie in this area. I'm trying to get my HTPC to record directly from my digital cable provider (note: cable not sattlelite). I know for certain that they use Nagravision. I have several question about this issue and I'll be glad if you know the answer to any of them:
1) I don't know whether Nagra 1 or 2 is being used. How do I find out?
2) I can't use the official Nagra CAM because the smart card I received from my cable provider is "married" to the receiver. I heard that some unofficial CAMs like Dragon CAM or Matrix CAM can still work, but will these CAMs work with a DVB-C card (rather than DVB-S)?

Hello,
The fastest and hassle free way to do this is by using a TV card with Composite or S-Video Input, I am assuming that you a subscribed cable box with S-Video out, just plug the Video out to your computer's Tv card video in and, same setup with sound and boom !, you can record directly to your PC in MPEG1 or MPGE2.
I know I am not answering your question, but remember, google is your friend. No tengo miedo a la muerte. Solo significa soņar en silencio. Un sueņo que perdura por siempre. ..
