So I picked up a new Liteon LVW-5115GHC at Costco for $119. "SWEET" (I thought). So I hooked it all up. I have RF in, and Out connected, Coax Audio, R/W/Y (RCA) cables going from my Tivo to this unit and I have component out going to my Sony Wega 36XBR450.
I viewed the component source through this unit both on the TV tuner and a DVD Movie (The Matrix) and both pictures are washed out, like the contrast is up too high. Of course changing the settings on the TV do nothing. I then hooked up the RCA Out from the unit to the TV and the picture was 'normal'. The contrast and color looked good.
I was just going to return it and get another one until a co-worker mentioned he checked his same model after I mentioned it to him and he noticed the same thing. He said his wasn't too noticeable, but mine certainly was. I cannot find the same description of this problem anwhere. Has anybody seen this? I'm inclined to return it and go for a whole different brand (one that records in stereo, has s-video, etc.)
Thanks!
