Use DVDInfoPro or similar to get the actual media code to find out who manufactures it. There are three different codes listed in the database here.

Purchased a couple of Playo 8X DVD-R 50 packs from Staples about 2 months ago.
I've burned about 40 of them on our Pioneer DVR-520H stand-alone DVD recorder
and in our NEC 3550a computer drive, burns at 4X in the Pioneer and at 8X in
the NEC burner. The media code on the discs is UME01.

The Playo discs have all played perfectly on all 3 of our DVD players without any
skips or freezing. However, cheap media rarely stands the test of time. If you want
DVDs that will still play perfectly two years from now, I'd recommend buying discs having
    a Taiyo Yuden media code.

  6. I have bought 200 each of playo +R, and playo -R, at $5 per 50. Zero coaster and zero playback error. Did not buy anymore because staples raise the price.

  7. I'd burn 3 Yesterday, no problem at all, burn at 4x in my Lite-on 411s and play fine in my Panasonic and Apex dvd players.

    Yes the code is:

    Zen of Encoding

The media code on the discs is UME01.
