Im using dvd workshop and Ive read in some post that theres the option to avoid reeconding mpeg2 video files. I cant find this "do not convert compliant video" option anywhere . Can someone help me please? Also, how do i know if i passed the DVD size limit? is it shown anywhere?

Version 2 and some of the latter updates of Version 1 do not need it. It is that way by default.

In DVD Workshop 2, go to the Edit screen and the bottom option under the Video Tab is Convert to disc template. This will be checked or not and, providing the file exactly matches the template settings you are using may be unchecked. If the file you are using must be encoded (if it is in any format other than DVD compliant mpeg), this will be checked and greyed.

Once you reach the Finish stage and select Burn to Disc, it will show you how big the finished project will be using the Template you previously selected. If it is slightly oversize it will warn you and you can then alter the compression settings to get it to a size that will fit.

You don't have to use a template. By default, no template is in use. There is an option where you can force it to convert any material to the template. It's an opt-in, not an opt-out.
