    does microsoft still support the original windows xp home edition upgrade disc that was $99.00 retail in 2001??? can updates be ontained?? i have an SP2 update disc to use after install.......i found 2 legit unused, unopened copies of XP Home from when it first came out.....

    Yes, but you have to apply the sp 1 or 2 update before you can updat any recent patches. That is how I install on my daughters computer.

    Well, technically no, because it MUST have SP1 or SP2. Microsoft has made a point of stating that you must have a service pack if you updates or any kind of support. You should have no problems, however, using your XP Home and SP2 discs. As always, for security reasons, do not enter in your real name, company, address, etc. when they ask for your registration info or username. Windows User, IP Freely, Richard Head, etc. are all good registration names.
