You will need to buy an wthernet card. If that machine has a available PCI slot get a card with drivers for Windows 95.

If you only have available ISA slots try to get a NE200 compatible card and use embeded drivers with it.

You will need to upgrade IE to the latest version.

    Good luck.

  3. Sure. You'll need an ISA ethernet card or modem.

The question is what amount of effort is it worth for the project? That PC won't run newer versions of many antivirus and spyware products, etc. Slightly newer used unit would have ethernet built-in, many advantages for not much more money. Monitor, mouse, keyboard interchangeable.

My wife does this every Christmas....buys me something obsolete...I can't control her...she loves to buy me electronics but doesn't have a clue. Your best bet is to descreetly resell it if you can at your own garage sale. Actually, thrift stores are refusing these old things.

PS - I have a couple of old modems laying around somewhere. One's external and one's a plug-in to an old PCI slot....yours free if you wish.

If you have the time and need you can turn that old machine into a nice firewall or IPS, or even use it for 3GB of Network Attached Storage. Apart from that, as others have said, it probably isn't worth the effort, and you might be better donating it to a recycling or reuse center. Google "donate computer". You might even get a tax write-off, which may well be more than you can sell it for.
