Hi all.
Probably this has already been discussed here before but, if it was, I cannot find any post about it.
So, I would like to know how can we build an MP3 CD or DVD that should be able to play on any standalone CD or DVD player. Is it just as simple as copy the MP3 files to the disks and burn them? And can we make folders, i.e., 1 album = 1 folder?
I'll appreciate your help/answer.
Thanks,
Mário

You cannot make a CD or DVD that will play in every standalone DVD player.
Reading MP3 files is not part of the DVD video player specifications.
Manufacturers can separately include that ability in their stand-alone players, and currently I think just about every DVD player has this ability. But you can still find older players that may not be able to play MP3 files.
As to how to do it, you're correct that you just burn a regular data CD or DVD, and you can include folders. Some DVD players will have problems with long file names. -
My player can play MP3s, but if they're in folders I have to do a lot of clicking to navigate before playing. So If I burn an MP3 disk I dump all the MP3s in a single folder, renamed so those from each album all start with the same short (2 or 3 letter) code, then a track number, then title, no spaces. Then I burn these files, all in the root folder.
Then I press "play"and it starts playing alphabetically, album by album, and I can skip forward fairly easily.
My player doesn't understand ID3 tags, so all the information has to be in the filename.
I use "Eags On" to rename them as mentioned above.
