  2. I wish I could. Lion's gate films are kooky. Saw 1 is the only one I was able to back up using
    smart-ripper, dvd2dvd....

    Saw 2 had no audio

    Now Hostel. 2 DVD-roms wouldn't recognize the DVD, and Smart-ripper wouldn't work.
I ended up using some God-forsaken DVD rip program on a 3rd DVD-rom that recognized the DVD and I am left with working VOBs.
However the 1st VOB is a few seconds too long (repeats the first few seconds of the
second VOB). So not only do I have to convert to DV avi, I have to trim to the exact
frame so VOB 1 and 2 run smoothly from one to another.

I have a Sony DVD-ROM and had no problems backing any of those movies. I almost never use my burner to rip disks.

I use dvdshrink, dvdfabdecrypter to rip those disks that shrink can't handle, and dvddecrypter to burn the iso files.

  6. Hasn't Saw been out quite a while?

Anyway, DVDFabDecrypter and AnyDVD are all very well, but frequent updates are required. Furthermore, you're not likely to get a clean rip of an ARccOS or Ripguard disc, lots of "junk" will be left behind. DVDShrink in particular is picky about that. You could try PgcEdit and the PSL2 plugin Wizard. Easy, works every time. You get a clean rip and fully valid structure. Look here:
