Peculiar very peculair
I bought a Flyview 2000 series capture card and its TVR software does not detect the recording line in or is getting confused with my playback and recording lines. I am using a branded Hewlett packard compa Pc running on winXP. Nothing hows up in the recording line field. Other programs the recording line in does not 'stick' and the program crashes on reboot. I have tried every combination of line (playback and rec) but to no avail. Only mainconcept and WinDVR allow me to record but they do not have FM
Tried Fly2000 with intervideo mpeg filters - no go (same problem of lack of detection)
Sage TV - No
I have a line-in recoding device and a realtek HD audio rear something as my playback device
Any help or i may junk the card ??!!

Obvoiusly - as i did mention it did not function with the provided software yet worked with others like the trial version ofmainconcept etc

If two programs work "Only mainconcept and WinDVR allow me to record but they do not have FM " then obviously there is nothing wrong with the hardware.
Does it require a cable from the tuner card to your sound Line-in socket?
does it require a seperate FM aerial ?Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons. -
Yes - a line in from the external cable tuner box to the TV tuner card for audio (video is carried on a composite in). Then a cable from the line out of the TV tuner card to my sound card . Then an optional line out if i want to hear the same on external speakers or headphones.
The playback devic e mapped for playback is the Realtek HD Rear output device and the device mapped for recording is the line in/mic in Each of these devices have a number of options such as stereo mixer, nicrophone, Cd player, front pink, center line (as the Realtek supports 5.1 output) and even a line-in.
Funny thing Mainconcept and Windvr track on the recording line and hence work while other programs i tried clearly ask to define the playback line and recording line and when this is done the audio recording failure occurs (or the initialisation fails). In all cases i can always hear on the line line but can record only in case of the two mentioned programs -
Wrong ...
Number 1 rule : Do not use the "tuner" setup with any capture device ... there crap and near useless .
============================
The best method to capture is via vcr which will already be tuned to all available channel's , as it will split up the source into seperate video and audio output's .
Seperating the input into individual input's help's to remove noise from mixed signal input .
============================
Pass all other playback device's through vcr rca input's .
Pass the video from playback device via rca cable to capture card input .
Throw that stupid pass through cable out the window NOW ...
Get an "rca to stereo headphone jack" conversion cable ... connect audio from playback device to "Linein" on sound card .
Double click on sound speaker icon on task tray , now have master volume panel up .
Option's , properties .
Select recording ... make sure linein is checked , click ok .
Make sure "linein" is not set to "mute" , and close this panel .
=======================================
If the card is an FM series , it will have a connection for the original supplied ariel .
I own a fly3000 stereo card (one of eight capture device's)
======================================
Start playback device ... you should now hear the audio from pc speaker's ... if not , check for updated driver's for audio setup on pc ... and trouble shoot sound device .
======================================
Run capture software that came with device .
Capture source is (your chosen format , ie , pal or ntsc) , then composite ... sound source is linein .
Setup other requirement's for capture type .
This sound setup is made simple if you received the original software as supplied with the card ... a little tricky without it .
Use vcr to control which channel or av channel you wish to record from .
======================================
You now have a choice of using the supplied capture software or other ... ulead video studio , nero vision express , windvd creator , movie maker , virtualdub and other's all work , though virtualdub use's the xp vfw wrapper (the 3000 unit dose) .
I recommend using the supplied software to setup the device ... then use another to do the actual video capture .
======================================
Be aware of where the capture card is installed ? , as this can cause system conflict's with hardware ... which can be the cause as to why it appear's to lockup or crash .
If your mother board has only 3 pci slot's , then capture card gose in middle pci slot .... there can be "NO" other card's in the other 2 pci slot's ...
Pci1 share's resource's with onboard agp and agp slot .
Pci2 and pci3 share resource's (use one only) .
Pci4 and pci5 share resource's (use one only) .
Doing it anyway other way , can lead to conflict's ... and at worse , damage hardware .
======================================
How to install device's correctly (also take note of above to avoid conflict's)
1: Install provided software ... shutdown pc ... turn off at power point .
2: Install card correctly , taking note of above .
4: Turn power on ... turn pc on .
Xp will find device , and install driver's ... if asked , point it to c:\windows\system32 or to your window's system32 directory ... I know a few people who "name" the install folder to other .
You are ready to go .
Installing this card any other way will cause problem's ...
