Is there some kind of weird new dvd copy protection I missed or something. Theres two fairly new movies waiting and grandmas boy, that I've tried to to rip to vcd. The dvds themselves refuse to play in my stand alone dvd player (older rca I bought it mostly to play my vcds). I use wincopy dvd standard to encode to nonstandard single disc xvcd. In order to make it start recording w/o an error I have to start up my dvdplayer software and start the movie then start encoding. Even doing that the movie either gets these weird out of sync problems like the audio will get ahead of the video for a minute or two in two three places through the movie, but it works its self out within one to two minutes. That was with grandmas boy, with waiting the video was all jerky but no sync problems. Is this just an issue w/ wincopy dvd standard? If so is there anything as convenient to use? I can go from dvd to a burned vcd in no more than 35 minutes w/ that particular software I love it, "just set it and forget it." I'm sure I could use tmpeg or something similiar but I'm floatin on 4-5 gigs of hd space and don't have a lot of room to be pulling huge files around on my hd. Any suggestiongs would be great thanks guys.

some newer dvds has some extra protection.

try anydvd(it runs in the background) or rip the dvd to the hd with dvdfab decrypter.

if that wont help rip to the hd with dvdfab decrypter and use fixvts and then convert.
