the dvd format IS mpeg , ussually after authoring them ..
but you can burn them direct - as to if they will play is up to your player"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Yes. Can your player play it ? Maybe. Some players can play raw mpeg, some can't. For near universal compatability, author as a compliant DVd structure.
If you want to find out if you can play it, but it to an RW first, just as a data disc. Put it in your player and see what happens.Read my blog here.

So, from what U Guys are saying, solely depends on my DVD Player. By authoring, you are kinda "guaranteeing" that the format will be complaint, just echoing back what you Guys said, is that right?

What they are saying is that a DVD has to have a specific structure and only supports certain resolutions and audio types. A Mpeg may be dvd compliant and thus be ready to be authored or it can be no standard as far as DVD and thus need to be converted and authored.
A decent Divx/Xvid played can play Divx or Xvid avis and could play mpegs too. I use a Toshiba that handles Divx 3, 4, 5 And Xvid and various mpeg resolutions and frame rates as well as NTSC and region free PAL DVDs. It won't handle Ogg in any form.
I liked the Tosh enough to ge get another one to go in the living room to save my time and discs.
I'm frugal but my time is important too. -
Specifically, MPEGs must be in VIDEO_TS format. A very good program for making DVDs from MPEGs & AVIs is SVCD2DVD ( www.svcd2dvd.com) )They is also a forum on VideoHelp.com

It's only 20 GBP for lifetime updates. Well worth it in my book
