I don't know if these 4 are newbie questions or not but here goes

1) I have a DivX which when played in mediaplayer seems to be in the theaterformat 2:35 to 1. Now I have converted this into a SVCD compliant mpeg2 using tmpgenc and burned it using Nero 5.5.6.4. Problem is when I watch it in my 16:9 TV using my standalone DVD it gets stretched out so the aspect ratio is about 3:1.

I followed the guide on this site on how to convert avi-svcd but there i selected PAL 16:9 in the Source aspect ratio settings. In Shocans guide it says this setting determines the ratio of the final product which i find contradictory and confusing because "Source aspect" implies that this should be set to the same ratio as the original avi file that i want to turn into an mpeg or have I misunderstood?

My tv has several settings 4:3, 14:9, 16:9 and Widescreen.
16:9 gave the most "height" but the ratio was still wrong. Should I encode it in 1:1 VGA or 4:3 PAL? I noticed there is a "2.11-1 display" to but i guess that would make it even worse.

2) Asuming i use CBR can I use any bitrate I want up to the maximum allowed for mpeg?

3) I don't see the point with the bitrate for sound in the calculator, I mean in tmpgenc there is no such setting.

4) In Nero there is an option to set encoding bitrate either "try to fit to disk size" or some preset rates 225,240 etc. Is this used when Nero encodes? If the file is already compliant after tmpgenc conversion does it matter then?

Any help would be nice, Converting takes 9 hours on my pc so you can really help me save time here.

Thanks in advance
