this is it. I got a movie clip that's about 2:30 in length and its capacity is 115 mb. How can i get this compressed to maybe 10 mb which would sound reasonable for a clip which is roughly around 3 minutes

Doesn't sound reasonable to me, as then you'll be compressing by a factor greater than 10:1. And the audio must take up a significant portion of that 10 MB you want.

Are you keeping it as an MPEG? Or converting to AVI? Anyway, use a lower resolution and a lower bitrate.

if i convert to avi wouldn't that make the file bigger. Another question if i choose a lower resolution and bitrate what would that imply?

it's a short clip - why not experiment for yourself. Will only take a few minutes to see how small you can get it through reduction of bitrate and resolution.

At ~4 MB/min -- of course it will.

If you compress it to avi it will only play on a small number of DVD Players that can play some avi files. Most would not be able to play it.
