  1. Hey guys.....
I have just purchased the new LG DR165 DVD recorder here in Australia.
I have already unlocked it to be region free.
Now what I want to do is record a NTSC video onto a PAL DVD. The Video player I'm using is a JVC PAL player with NTSC playback on PAL TV.
But when I try to record it, I get a window saying "TV System : MISMATCH"
Is there any way I can unlock this player to allow me to burn this NTSC video?!?!
Any help would be truly appreciated guys.

Also..... Here is the Region Free hack for the DR165

    1) Power On
    2) Open Tray
    3) Press Setup
    4) Highlight the Lock Picture (Don't Enter Right hand Menu)
    5) Press "0" seven times
    6) You should now have a message on the screen saying "This player is now Region Free" or something along those lines.

This does work. I just tried it. Also, I tried adding this player to the hack database, but I couldn't find a direct link to this model. So I just added the LG Australia website.

    Cheers

    and
PAL/NTSC have nothing to do with each other.

And unless you have a $300(U.S.) VHS player that "converts" NTSC to PAL your recorder will not record the signal. Your VHS is not outputting a true NTSC(or PAL for that matter) signal from that NTSC tape.....it is outputting a "Quasi" signal which 99% of DVD Recorders cannot record.
