Hello, I am trying to convert a dvd disc that was put together from a DV cam. There are three videos on the disc. 2 VOB's per video, one large (which is most of the video) and one small (less that 10 minutes). It seems that no matter what program I use it just does not convert right. I've tried SUPER, WinDVD and some others. For some reason the last few minutes of the video is cut off everytime.
Before I converted with WinDVD I merged the two files with VOB Merge. For some strange reason after "merged" WinDVD makes the file smaller (I have not a clue as to why?). So I thought I would try SVCD for a smaller file size. Now WinDVD is splitting the VOB's up. How would it know how to do this? I thought VOB MERGE combined the format? And it still cut 4 minutes off the end. Well, I decided to live with the four cut off minutes. At this point I just wanted one file. WinDVD can't do it, MPEG Joiner won't either. I've also tried Twins file Merger, AoA dvd merger. I can go on and on with all of the programs that I have used to try and get this dvd converted correctly.
I can safely say that I have used over 10 different programs and they all act like this dvd is from outerspace. Finally after all the different programs and codecs etc, my one and only program that somewhat worked started acting weird and every video it converted showed an incorrect time length. So I re-installed windows and it's ok now, but the end is cut off and nothing will join it after being converted to SVCD using WinDVD. I would just use NTSC HQ but it's too large. Not to mention that the end of the video would still get cut off.
If anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong or maybe give some helpful advice that would make my month![]()

What are you trying to convert your dvd into? If you give your desired output then you can get some suggestions.

I'm not sure why you're bothering with SVCD, but back when I was still making SVCD's I used this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/sefy/
I would use DVDDecrypter in file mode to rip(set file splitting to 'none' in setup>file mode), dvd2avi to frameserve, tmpgenc to encode to svcd-mpeg and VCDEasy to author and burn."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
