  1. I understand that many opinions exist as to the "best" or even "useable" DVD discs. Having made quite a few coasters of my own, I understand that. However, I don't remember seeing anything about the quality of the image one gets from different media. I just assumed that because it's digital, either it works or it doesn't, but no difference in how they look on the screen.

    Is there ANY difference in the output from different brand discs, assuming both actually work? Thx.

    I thought the same, that, no there should be no difference in quality, so I bought the cheap discs. I recently purchased some TDK discs and actually do notice an improvement in picture quality. I don't know why it would make a difference but it does. The colors are more vibrant and the picture seems clearer.

    gerryc: No! the media quality doesnt make the colors more vibrant and picture clearer....it must be something else.

    I understand what you're saying. It's all ones and zeros. But I did notice a difference. I burned the same file on both the cheap disc (Supermedia brand) and the TDK disc and I could see a difference. I don't know...
